First Commission

Michelle saw a vase I made at my parents. She asked me if i could make something for her roommate. I had the bowl completed and said I could add four candle holders.
The bowl is 5 1/2 x 2 inches and the candle holders are 2 x 3 1/4 inches. The Choke Cherry wood was given to me by my long time friend Stan. All have a Shellac finish.

Reason for Title

This is the reason for the title of the Blog (round frames - framing a round). This is my first round frame. It has a diameter of 24” and was made for the puzzle you see. This is also American Cherry with a clear finish. The segments are cut, glued and then shaped. If you were able to see the back, it is not shaped and the flat side of the segments would be obvious. You can see the profile in the close up.

The pictures are dated 2006 which is when they were taken. I actually made this frame in 2005. I was married to Jennifer in January 2006 and gave this frame to my in-laws.

First Blog

I made this 8” x 11” for the Thomas Kinkade puzzle you see in the frame. The wood is American Cherry with a clear finish. This is a descending or reverse frame. That is the frame holds the picture higher than the back or outside edge of the frame.
